When evaluating ethical boundaries and practices there are multiple topics that need to be considered such as boundary issues and dual relationships, professional collaboration in counseling, relationships with supervisors and colleagues and the development of a counselors personal viewpoint of ethics. A counselor must understand how to navigate client relationships that cross boundaries in a ethical and professional manner. As a counselor the mentor and or supervisor relationship needs to also ensure ethical boundaries are maintained. When working with other professionals a counselor needs to ensure their client’s treatment plan is progressing as planned based on the informed consent form.
